Personal Training means different things to different people. It means commitment, motivation, accountability, knowledge, and success. A personal trainer is an educated and certified individual that encompasses all these traits. A Personal Trainer is the appointment that needs to be made today!
Fitness is a personal commitment to yourself, on your terms, to fit your style of living. At Forever Fit, we listen to identify realistic goals, motivate to move toward the stated goals, provide the accountability to stay on track, and reward with each successfully attained goal. We believe that everyone has the ability to change their lifestyle one step at a time.
Your first training session begins with conversation about personal history, medical history, exploring ambitions, defining goals, fitness testing, and some time to allow for you to get to know a little about the trainer. The fitness testing includes cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility testing along with weight, body fat measurements, and Body Mass Index. The trainer is then able to devise an appropriate fitness program, communicate that program, and assist in the follow through of the program.
All subsequent trainings are scheduled between client and trainer. We try our best to work with the client’s schedule. We look for success in a client’s follow through so to have training times fit into the existing schedule is very important. These sessions include a warm up on the cardiovascular equipment, strength training in various formats, and stretching at the end of the session. We are very open to hearing all feedback as we continue to strive to help each client toward their stated goals.
First and foremost, a Trainer should be certified through a reputable fitness organization such as AFAA, ACSM, NASM, ACE, or NSCA to name a few. Always remember that while a college degree is not required, the more education a trainer has, the more complete, and safer your workouts will be. Along with a certification, the trainer should have several years experience in relation to the goals you want to achieve. A trainer should hold a valid CPR/AED certification. Please don’t be afraid to ask for proof of any claim a trainer may claim.
Now that the credentials have been discussed, a trainer should be a good listener and communicator, be ever present throughout the workout session, freely offer information and rationale for any part of the agreed upon fitness program, open to feedback (positive and negative), and be willing and able to make necessary changes depending on the feedback.
Now that you have the basics…let’s pick up the phone and make that appointment. Your health is not always willing to wait!
